#StopChildLabor

"Have the courage to raise your voice To help those in need" -Child Labour (a poem by Mehreen Mujeeb)

Child Labor is one of the greatest challenges that the mankind faces today and as a teenager, this issue is related to me even though I'm not experiencing it. I am also a child like those who are suffering from child labor and I know how they feel that's why I want to help them. Some people may not be aware of what is happening to those children who are suffering from child labor, by this activity we are able to know and let people know more about child labor.

I feel pity to those children who were working at a young age just to earn money to have something to eat.  That's why it makes me feel fortunate that I am here; studying, learning, playing, free, I can eat three times a day, I have a scholarship for my studies and I am enjoying my youth and they should experience what I am experiencing now. Children who suffers from child labor deserve a life, they deserve to enjoy their youth.

Thank you to English Access Program for letting us help those children who were experiencing child labor by this activity. I hope there would be more eye-opening activities and more about the problems that the world is facing today so we can be aware of what's happening in the world.

ACHIEVING A GOAL

COLOR FUN RUN

Last year, I joined a color fun run in the benefit of the children who are suffering from cancer. When I arrived in the venue, the people looked like an army of ants. I looked at the runners around me; I can see the excitement painted in their faces. I felt so glad because these people are not just here to enjoy but also, to extend a helping hand. While me, my goal here is not just to enjoy and help but to reach the finish line.

The sun wasn't still rising when we arranged in our positions. "Are you ready?" the organizer asked. "Yeah!" me and the other runners shouted at the top of our lungs and we all ran in a signal from the organizer. After a couple of turns, I'm already feeling tired and I'm sweating at the same time. "Run! Just run!" I thought to myself. At the next turn, there were colored powders, the runners in my back shouted in excitement. After we pass through the colored powders, we look like rainbows. We laughed at each other’s look.

Finally, I can see the finish line but I'm really feeling exhausted, my foot and my knees are both aching. "You can do it. There's the finish line!" I motivated myself. I forced myself to keep moving. The next thing I knew, I was already in the finish line, my tiredness end up being happiness and contentment. "I made it! I reached my goal!" I told myself.

Being An Access Scholar

Being an Access scholar is never easy. People expect so much about you, everyone's attention is in you and you must study well in order to maintain your grades. I still can't believe that I'm part of this program, I'm really blessed. The past days, we learned about the importance of teamwork and I enjoy every activity we do. We learned so much being in this program though we're only begging, we learned to be more responsible, disciplined, punctual and what is the essence of teamwork. I can't wait for the other activites especially the fieldtrips and to watch theatre acts.
